Before I get ahead of myself, I need to say one thing. Although I dedicate this blog to my mom, my dad is still a very important figure in my life, whom I love all the same. I am a mama's girl. But I'm also a daddy's girl.
He's a handsome fella'. He won best dressed in high school - something I still tease him for. He had awesomely long wavy hair. One of these days I'll find a picture.
As tough as he likes to act, he has a soft spot. Especially for animals. After begging for a dog for years and being turned down repeatedly, he finally gave in. One of his clients had a bunch of puppies. We went to his house to pick one out, despite my mom's hesitation. Since the puppy was for me, I got to pick out the winner, however my dad spotted a puppy he liked better. We came home with two puppies that day. My mom was not exactly pleased. "But a dog needs a friend, mom!"
I simply love this picture. That would be my sister with my dad. By the looks of that bottle in her hand and the passed out look on her face, I'd say she had a hard day.
One thing that has really brought my dad and me together is running. I ran cross country all throughout high school, as did he. Much of my motivation and determination came from him. His story is amazing. He went from being one of the slowest runners to being the number one runner at his small school. All because he trained one summer on his own. I'm sorry, but what crazy high school kid wakes up every morning to run long and difficult miles by himself? Tell me thats not determination and I might give you a disgusted look.
He has run many marathons, both in his prime and the past few years. (Crazy?) He stopped running for a while, but took it back up when I started. I think he's afraid I'll be faster than him. That never happened sadly.
